One such case involved a 15-year-old girl who came to us with symptoms of severe stomach pain, difficulty in eating, and low iron levels. On endoscopy, Dr. Vamsi diagnosed a large hairballin her stomach, weighing about 1 kg.
After further investigation, it was found that the girl was suffering from a rare disorder called trichobezoar or Rapunzel Syndrome, where the patient eats their own hair, leading to the formation of a large mass in the stomach. Dr. Vamsi Krishna successfully performed the surgery to remove the hairball, ensuring the girl’s recovery. .
